Waterbottles, Hats, and Snacks

Please ensure that your child comes to school everyday with a hat and waterbottle. This is especially important over the next few weeks as they will be having P.E. outside.

Also, sometimes students eat the majority of their lunch as their snack at 9:40. Then, they do not have enough to eat at lunch time. Sometimes the issue is that they're not sure what portion is the snack and which is the lunch. Please talk with your child about what you are packing for their snack and lunch. In the past, parents have put the snack in a ziplock bag labeled snack or put it in a different container to help their children know which is the snack.

Finally, check in with your children every few weeks and ask if they're still hungry after they eat lunch or if they need you to pack more. During lunch duty, I have had students raise they're hands stating that they've eaten everything but are still hungry.

As always, thank you for your support!

Collections Needed by Next Tuesday!

Dear Families,
For the next few weeks, we will be learning about how to write reviews during Writer’s Workshop. In order to do this, we will be bringing in collections to write a review about. Each child will need to bring in his/her own collection of anything that they collect in a gallon sized ziplock bag. Some good examples of collections to bring in are marbles, rocks, shells, Barbie dolls, stamps, coins, sports cards, small Lego toys, etc.
If the collection your child would like to bring in is expensive or very large, I ask that it not be brought in, but you could instead take a picture of the collection and describe them on a piece of paper. I also ask that they collections be brought in by next Tuesday, March 1. We will use them for about 5 school days and then students can take them back home.

Thank you so much for your help with this writing unit!

Musical: Dorothy in Wonderland

During Sunday's assembly, we saw a preview of the musical, Dorothy in Wonderland. The students were enthralled by the wonderful MS actors! If families would like to see the musical, there will be two performances in the Bosch Center this weekend.

Thursday, February 11:  7:00 pm
Saturday, February 13:   2:00 pm

Tickets are on sale for 2RO until the evening of the show. You can purchase tickets from any MS actor or MS Reception. If you buy your tickets at the door, the cost is 3RO.

The play essentially begins where The Wizard of Oz left off, with Dorothy getting ready to go back to Kansas.  Only she is swept up in another tornado along with the Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow, this time to Wonderland.  Once there she meets a lot of new friends and tries to escape the Queen of Hearts who is trying to cut off her head!  It is a lighthearted show that is appropriate for all ages and very family friendly!
